Joint Emergency Services open day Kendal – 2011

A busy day, all the services opened their doors in Kendal and invited the public in to look around. We had a display in the Fire Station yard, and then put on a joint services SWRT demo in the river Kent with CFRS and Kendal MRT.

Youth Training with Penrith Police – October 2011

We were asked to put on a training exercise for a youth engagement team from Penrith Police. The youngsters got to perform a simulated missing person search and rescue operation using a range of techniques and equipment.

Landrover Quicksand Recovery Silverdale – July 2011

The one that beat us… Up until this point we have never failed to recover a stuck vehicle. However we did only get called 2 days later and by that point the tide had washed over it and bedded it in properly! So we used it as a training exercise.

Joint exercise with West Kirby RNLI – May 2011

We were asked by the RNLI to see if our Hagglunds would tow an IRB across the mud and sand at West Kirby any better than a Matt Track equipped Landrover. Everyone was very impressed with what a Hagglund could do.

Off road vehicle evaluation day with LFRS and BPMRT – December 2011

A joint exercise to evaluate the capabilities of the various off road vehicles that can be called in in the event of a major moorland fire. Landrovers, Polaris 6×6, Argocat, Soft trac and Hagglunds.

Go Orange for Indy day, schools visits – 2011

The Bay team visited a number of schools on ‘Go Orange for Indy (Independant Lifeboat and Rescue teams)’ day.
