Sorry – No Cross Bay Walk for 2017

13th February 2017

It is with great disappointment and regret that we have to advise everyone that Bay Search and Rescue will NOT be running a Charity Cross Bay Walk in 2017.

There are limited weekend dates available each year from the Queens Guide to the Sands Cedric Robinson, and unfortunately he cannot fit us in this year. This is as you can imagine a huge disappointment to us and to all our hundreds of regular walkers and will be the first time in 10 years we have not run our annual walk. It is also a huge loss to the financial income of Bay Search and Rescue as the walk fundraising usually covers the cost of our vehicle fleet insurance each year.

The operational rescue team, (which as well as working with Cumbria and Lancashire Fire Services and Police ironically specialises in quicksand rescue on Morecambe Bay), and its three Hagglund all terrain tracked rescue vehicles will of course be available as always 356 days a year 24/7 via HM Coastguard should we be needed for any incidents with the walks that do go ahead and we wish them all the best.

In the event of an emergency dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard (coastal rescue) or Fire & Rescue (land rescue).

For advice call the Team Duty Officer on the 24/7 Direct Number: 0300 999 0333 and if required we will inform the appropriate service.
